Holocaust Survivor Coming on May 17th

Posted by on 6:14 pm in Announcements | 0 comments

Dear parents, In Social Studies this year, we are studying many interesting time periods throughout American History.  As part of our studies, I have a very special treat for the students.  We are having a Holocaust survivor, Mrs. Charlotte Adelman, coming to talk to the 7th graders.  Mrs. Adelman survived the Holocaust and has agreed to come give a first hand account of what it was like. This is a once in a lifetime experience. Your child has been prepped on what happened to the people in the Holocaust.  She will be coming in on Tuesday, May 17th to speak to the students about her experience.  Since life in the concentration camps was horrific, some of this valuable information will be graphic in nature. For the assembly, we will be pulling them from their 2nd and 3rd hour classes. If you do NOT want them to participate, email me to tell me and we will leave them in their classes. They will be able to do something else instead of participating. My email is: If you DO wish them to have this experience, you need not do anything. If you have any questions, please let me know! Sincerely, Ms. Samantha Taylor 7th grade History ALA...

Pearl Harbor DBQ Essay due April 27th

Posted by on 4:51 pm in Announcements | 0 comments

Yesterday in class we started our DBQ Essay for the quarter. They have today in class to start writing it but they will have to finish the final draft on their own. I’ve attached the outline I’ve given them in class to help them write it in case they lose it. Basically, they are answering the question, “Why did Japan attack Pearl Harbor?” They need to tell me the story, one step/part of it in each main body paragraph, using the documents in their Document Packet to prove that what they are saying is correct, making sure to cite the documents they use each time. This assignment is only for History class and has nothing to do with their English Research Paper. This assignment’s final draft is due next Wednesday, April 27th. If they can type it, that would be great. However, if they can not type it is not an excuse for it to be not done or late. Either a handwritten or a typed final draft is due April 27th. If they want to type it but can’t print it out, they can email me the assignment and I’ll print it out for them. If you have any questions, please email me at DBQ...
