Updated Show Information!!

Hello Parents/Guardians!   We have been working so hard on our show “Briar Rose: The Story of Sleeping Beauty” here at ALA and I appreciate so many devoted parents willing to pitch in to help sew, make props, and other assorted responsibilities. Thank you, thank you, thank you!   With that being said, we have more details for you! As you know, our show will be May 19-21st, 2016 in the Reagan Auditorium. Thursday and Friday shows will be at 6pm and the Saturday show is at 2pm. With that being said, we ask that students arrive, at the very latest, a half an hour before show time. Teachers will be taking attendance at 5:30 on Thursday and Friday and at 1:30 on Saturday. All students will be designated a changing area near their class, with separate changing rooms for boys and girls, as well as space to bring in their costumes. We recommend that students bring their costumes in one big bag or bin to keep it together and make sure nothing is lost or stolen. It is their responsibility to take care of their costumes and accessories. They must have everything on the costume list we sent out by show day. If your student purchased a nice costume from one of our professional costume companies, there will be a costume rack backstage to hang them and take care of them. All students need to take costumes home with them in between performances. Feel free to email Ms. Jensen or Ms. Cain with questions or concerns.   Our dress rehearsal will be May 18th, 2016 from 3pm to 6pm in the auditorium. Makeup and hair are not required at this rehearsal but costumes are required. Students need to practice changing outfits in time for their next dance. After the dress rehearsal, students are released and only need to come the following day by 5:30 for their attendance call and performance. No other rehearsals are required.   Students must remain backstage for the before and during the performance. Students will lose points on their final score for their performance if they are seen in the audience or mingling with friends or family in the lobby before the show. We...

DANCE SHOWCASE ANNOUNCEMENT (with dates and times)

ATTENTION ALL ALA PARENTS, STAFF,  AND FAMILIES:   We are VERY excited to announce our new formal dance showcase in the Raegan Auditorium at Ironwood High School- Briar Rose: The Story of the Sleeping Princess. Based on the Disney fairytale, this show has a very exciting story with several types of fun dancing for everyone! We are so thrilled to show you everything the students have learned this year!   With that being said, we would truly appreciate some of your help. Our students’ strive for excellence and quality does come at a cost. Students wish to do everything they and we can to ensure that they can all wear formal dance costumes. With the prices that costumes can be, we will need your help in setting up fundraisers and providing the necessary materials and talents to make this happen. We also need a hand in building some props for the performance, helping out with ticket sales and concessions, as well as volunteers that can work backstage for us for the duration of the performance. If you choose to volunteer backstage, we will work with you to chaperone the dressing room that your child is stationed in, so that you can watch them perform when they go on stage. I have heard fabulous things of the many talents that our parents and families can provide and look forward to working with all of you. If you wish to volunteer or help in the process at any time, please contact Ms. Jensen via e-mail at shelbyjensen@alaschools.org or by phone at the school at 1-480-344-9898  extension 2098.   The students are so excited to be auditioning for particular roles in the show as well as provide the necessary work it will take to help our dance department thrive and create a fantastic performance! Casting as to who received principal roles will be posted no later than Monday, April 11th, 2016. Mark your calendars! The show will run one weekend on May 19th, 20th, and 21st. The Thursday and Friday shows will begin at 6pm. The Saturday show will be a matinee at 2pm. More details including ticket prices, dress rehearsals, and necessary accessories for costumes will be coming your way shortly....
