I was born and raised in Colombia, South America.  I am the eldest of my four siblings. My father still lives and my mother passed away 25 years ago. Although all my siblings live far away from each other, we are very close and we maintain constant communication.

I have a wonderful son, named Juan, who is 19 years old and attends Arizona State University; he is hoping to go to Law School once he graduates.

I attended Universidad de Antioquia, and received a BA “English and French as a Foreign Language.” After I graduated, I taught English as a second language and Spanish in a High School for 5 years in Colombia.

I moved to Colombia’s capital, Bogotá, where I worked for 15 years as an International flight attendant for American Airlines, based out of Colombia. As a flight attendant I had the amazing opportunity of traveling to over 50 different countries, and 200 cities around the world. This experience taught me more than I ever thought it could. It helped me gain a different outlook in life, it taught me geography, and I learnt about many different cultures.

In the Summer of 2008 I moved to Anchorage, Alaska. While in Alaska, I worked for the Anchorage School District where I held several different positions. I was a substitute teacher, bilingual tutor for ELL,  and the 21st Century Community Learning Coordinator for Muldoon Elementary. These experiences enhanced even more my passion for education. About a year ago, my son and I traveled to Arizona.

Bienvenidos a la clase de Español II

During this year, students will develop the ability to communicate, using simple sentences containing basic language structures. This communication is evidenced in all four languages skills- listening, speaking, reading and writing- with emphasis on the ability to communicate orally and in writing. Culture is a huge part of learning a language, so we will discover many Spanish spoken countries as well.
