All About Ms. Skousen

Hello!! My name is Denita Skousen. I lived in Oregon for 14 years, while I lived there I owned my own preschool for 5 years while I stayed at home with my two beautiful daughters McKenzie (12) and McKartnie (9). I decided to return back to school, and major in Elementary Education, at Eastern Oregon University, in LaGrande, OR. After graduation I was a certified substitute teacher for 5 years and coached 8th grade girls basketball as well as coached JV and Varsity softball. I moved to New Mexico in July of 2013 to teacher 4th grade. I taught 4th grade for the last two years at Chaparral Elementary. ( Very cool side note: this is the same elementary school I attended) I was ready for a new adventure with my two daughters and decided to move to Arizona and was very lucky to be offered a job with American Leadership Academy!

My Hobbies: I love to cook, love to workout and stay active. Would love to play on a co-ed softball team,(hint hint, if you know anyone looking for a new team member)  I completed in a half marathon in Provo, in July and placed 4th in my age group and 20th overall. I love to camp, ride ATV’s,  play in the water, attend baseball games, spend time with my two daughters and family in New Mexico.
